Charles Kirchofer: Charles Kirchofer has a PhD in War Studies from King's College London and wrote his doctoral thesis on Israel's deterrence of Hamas. He has taught Security Studies at UMass Lowell and authored numerous newspaper and peer-reviewed journal articles on topics ranging from deterrence and targeted killings to terrorism and Western counterterror policy and strategy. A fluent German speaker, he has lived in Germany and Austria as well as England and has insights into European, in addition to US and Middle Eastern, politics.
